The test of faith
Galilee Lutheran Church
Lay leaders Doug Andre and Kris Andre
“By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land ….By faith the walls of Jericho fell ….By faith the prostitute Rahab … was not killed with those who were disobedient. And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets…” So writes the Apostle Paul in today’s lesson.
Is the same courage required of us in this more “civilized” age? Jesus says, “I have come to bring fire on the earth.” Sounds like people of faith have more tests to come. Not your normal touchy-feel-good words of comfort, are they?
Doug Andre leads the service and delivers the message at our 9 a.m. outdoor service this Sunday.
Galilee Lutheran is located at 8860 Soda Bay Road, just a couple of miles north of the Riviera Market shopping center. We invite all to join us. Dogs and children are welcome.
Hearing the cure
Clear Lake Baptist Church.
Pastor Ray Smith
I asked some teens once, “If you had the cure for cancer would you tell everyone?” The answer surprised me. One teen said, “No.” I was shocked. I asked the question again thinking they were not listening or did not hear the question right. The answer remained the same. I asked, “Why?” They said, “I may not like some of the people that could benefit from the cure and may not want them to have it.”
This was shocking because the Bible contains the cure for death and God wants everyone to hear it. Is the message of Jesus important? It is a matter of life and death. Your life depends on the reception or rejection of the message just like it is your choice to take the cure for cancer. Join us this Sunday at 10:45 a.m. to learn more. Come at 9:15 a.m. for stimulating Bible studies for all ages. We have midweek services so check out the schedule online or call the church office (707) 263-3256. Listen to sermons online (but there is no substitute for live interaction and engagement.) Our Tuesday night AWANA kids club is on break for the Summer.
