LAKEPORT >> Tommy Burke and Shannon Aloia made a successful head coaching debut Thursday afternoon as the Clear Lake High School varsity girls’ soccer team beat the Upper Lake Cougars 11-0 in non-league action at Don Owens Stadium in Lakeport.

Amelia Perry powered Clear Lake’s offense with a hat trick (three goals). Tianna Jardstrom, Kortnie Reynolds and Tanya Vasquez added two goals apiece.

“We started out a little slow this afternoon, but once we had our first goal, then the pace picked up,” Burke said. “I was very pleased with the passing and movement on the field this afternoon.”

Lexi Burke assisted on five Clear Lake goals.

Standouts on defense were center back Regina Faalelea and Skye Bruch.

Clear Lake returns to action Sept. 2-3 in the Abalone Cup at Fort Bragg and will participate in the Ukiah Tournament Sept. 9-10. The Cardinals open their North Central League I schedule on Sept. 13 on the road against eight-time defending league champion Middletown. They don’t return home until Sept. 15 against Fort Bragg.
