Lucerne >> An independent radio producer based in San Francisco has taken up the task of researching and reporting on the high water rates that have plagued the small town of Lucerne for over the last decade, and is seeking interviews from affected members of the community.

Audrey Dilling has been awarded the UC Berkeley 11th-Hour Food & Farming Fellowship to report on the cost of water in Lucerne, picked as one of 10 stories out of hundreds of applications to receive support.

Dilling has worked as a reporter, editor and producer at KALW public radio 91.7FM in San Francisco, focusing on the environment and drought.

She will be in Lucerne now through Friday and is interested in connecting with members of the community to talk about the impact the cost of water has had on them. Dilling will also be in attendance at this Wednesday’s meeting of Lucerne Speaks at 7 p.m., as well as at the California Public Utilities Commission public hearing Thursday at 5 p.m.

Both events being held at the Northshore Community Center (formerly known as the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center) located at 3985 Country Club Drive in Lucerne.

If you would like more information about this topic, contact Dilling at 971-344-3790 or audreydilling@gmail.com.
