There was no yes

I would like to comment on Mac McKay’s comment, “Trey Goudy asked James Comey, FBI Director, four times if HRC lied and all four times he said YES!” (RB 8-19)

I reviewed the exchange between Gowdy and Comey and see nowhere Comey saying that Clinton lied. He never says “YES!” to any of the questions. Gowdy says several times, “Was that true?” and the response was no. At no time did Gowdy ask Comey if he believed Clinton lied about any of her answers.

If Clinton believed that what she was saying was true, even if it was not, then she did not lie. Which is why I only ask that Mac do more research before making false statements.

Fires, government in Sacramento

I have a formal request. I would like to see if Lake County’s State representative in Sacramento Mike McGuire or Congressman Jared Huffman, would print an honest figure of the Cal Fire’s budget for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016, so we can see how much money is being spent on the crazy ideas of the powers at be.

In my past experience there is only two kinds of fires. One is a controlled burn in the winter and two is a wild fire in the summer. I don’t know why we have the rules at this time of no control burns. Wild fires kill deer, nesting birds, turkeys any ground animals and if left as is California is going to look like the Mojave Desert, except the desert has chemise brush as this doesn’t require any water. I don’t know if these rules are because of tree huggers or environmentalists, because the only thing to for tree huggers to hug after a wild fire is metal fence post. California has to get smart in their thinking and remember the taxpayers the county which you represent.

I heard that the last fire in Lake County cost approximately $75 million to put out. With that kind of money we could control the whole state with money left over if we started control burning in the winter. I am not blaming Cal Fire as they are an agency separate from the state but part of and they work very hard very long hours and all summer long, away from their family and kids to save others property and life.

How about the County of Lake, they lose $75 million in property taxes, the home owners in Lake County have lost millions in value and have nothing to sell. Some are totally out of business with no way to restart or recoup, because they can’t sell a bunch of ashes to replace their business.

It is time for all the powers at be to wake up and pay attention about and to the people of Lake County that have lost everything time and time again. It is very very costly to the insurance companies and a lot of the stuff burnt in Lower Lake and Clearlake belong to the tax payers in one shape or form already. I just believe this is totally out of hand and it is time for the State to pay attention or soon there will be no state at all. If these fires were in Sacramento around the State Capitol and burning property like Governor Brown’s mansion and the State Capitol itself, maybe that would be enough to wake up the powers to be to realize that they are not doing the right thing for the residents for California. It would only take a shock like to wake them up at what’s going around them because it seems like they have no idea.

Thinking about the sales tax, pot tax, Cal Fire tax, school tax, but the individual property owner that pays all their bills for themselves and the State of California doesn’t seem to count in any shape or form.

So I’ll be waiting to read your letter to the Editor who ever has the guts to write to this community in our local newspaper, so we can read what is going on because I believe that it is getting closer in time that the property owners and the residents in Lake County that have been damaged should think about a class action against the State of California to recoup their losses because California has not done anything to protect the residents of Lake County and its income and citizens.

So I’ll be waiting to hear from you, so all of Lake County can see what California is financially doing to them. Time for hand down and not hand up so the tax payers can fill it with money to be wasted.

Change approach

I’d like to suggest that it is time for several “Opinion” writers to return to reality and accept the fact that each major political party has nominated a candidate. Each party has also posted a platform noting what some of their goals are and that their presidential (and “down ballot”) candidates should support. Also the parties each have a proposed budget to iron out.

In our form of democracy nothing gets accomplished except by action by both administration and congress and any candidate “I will do this”, he/she is lying.

I would like to suggest that in “Opinion”, the emphasis change. I’d like to see what people think should be like and offer suggestions as to how to accomplish it. How much “defense” do we really need? How (if) to modify “Obamacare” to do more medical delivery at a lower cost. How to upgrade our country’s infrastructure present degradation — and so on!

Let’s be positive and offer ideas rather than damnations!

Corporate welfare

I don’t understand. A recent Record-Bee article reported our Congressman Mike Thompson obtained $65 Million federal tax payer dollars for the wine industry. I see that as corporate welfare! The wine industry has huge profits why are we taxpayers funding their research?

Does Rep. Thompson owns vineyards?
