LAKEPORT >> The Lake County Registrar of Voters released its official candidate list for the November vote Wednesday, featuring races for city councils, local school district seats and miscellaneous elections throughout the area.
In both Clearlake and Lakeport, three city council seats are up for grabs.
For the former, six candidates will compete for the spots held by Joyce Overton, Nick Bennett (who is finishing out the rest of Denise Loustalot’s term due to her resignation in March) and the one recently vacated by Vice Mayor Gina Fortino Dickson. According to the list, the incumbents will be joined by state Board of Equalization staffer and former councilman Joey Luiz, retired carpenter William Shields and Phil Harris.
On the other side of Clear Lake, the field for Lakeport City Council is six people strong. Only one councilman — Kenneth Parlet — is running for reelection. Martin Scheel, meanwhile, is currently in the runoff election for the District 4 seat for the Board of Supervisors against local school board member Tina Scott.
Facing off against Parlet is Cheese’s Pizza owner Timothy Barnes, former Lakeport Mayor Ted Mandrones, local medical marijuana advocate Michael Green, Northshore Community Center executive director Nathan Maxman and local Analyst/Programmer George Spurr.
Regarding schools, two districts — Yuba Community College District and Konocti Unified — have incumbents running unopposed while Middletown Unified has four candidates vying for three vacancies: Misha Grothe, Sean Millerick, incumbent Sandy Tucker and Helena Welsh.
As for the seven special district elections, which include three zones in the Northsore Fire Protection District, another three in the Redbud Healthcare District and the Hidden Valley Lake Community Services District, each incumbent is unopposed.
The election will be held on Nov. 8.
