Everett Walton of Morgan Hill won the $1,450 first prize in the adult division during the sixth annual Lakeport Yacht Club Catfish Tourney, which ran from Friday to Sunday on Clear Lake. Walton’s big fish weighed 16.88 pounds and was caught Friday night in the south end of the lake. He used cut mackerel for bait. Second place and $500 went to Mike Nylander of Clearlake with a 16.28-pounder, third place and $400 went to Eric Han of Brownsville with a 13.71-pounder, fourth place and $300 went to Jeremy McKemy of Reno, Nevada, with a 13.08-pounder, and fifth place and $250 went to George Schmidt of Lakeport with a 9.35-pounder. The tournament drew 48 adults and 13 kids but no fish were caught in the kids division. Only nine catfish were weighed in.
