LAKEPORT >> Not everyone who is recovering from surgery or battling serious illness is cared for in a hospital. In fact, thousands of people receive care at home. Sutter Care at Home has a team of health care professionals in 23 California counties, who provide compassionate care for people in the comfort of their homes.

This month, Sutter Care at Home honored two of its Lakeport employees — Deborah O’Bryant and Wendy Mailhiot — with service recognition and “Above and Beyond” awards.

“There are times when our staff know they have made a difference because of notes, hugs and other expressions of appreciation from patients, but there are far many more instances when they’ve made a difference and didn’t realize it. We recognize our staff so they know how much of a difference they make in peoples’ lives every day,” said Sutter Care at Home CEO Marcia Reissig. “This was an authentic ‘thank you’ to all of our employees, whether they reached a milestone or not. We let them know that they are valued and appreciated.”

The breakfast event honored people who had reached professional milestones of years served. At the Lakeside center for Sutter Care at Home, one stand-out employee received recognition: Pamela Jones who has been a patient scheduler with Sutter Health for 25 years.

Each department also awarded “Above and Beyond” service awards for people who have been exemplary in patient care, acts of compassion and innovation.

O’Bryant serves as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Mailhiot serves as a Physical Therapist. Both work in Home Health.

“Every day, Sutter Care at Home employees touch the lives of thousands of people living with chronic and terminal illness. Several of these staff are so excellent at what they do, patients ask for them — even after their care is complete,” Reissig said.

Sutter Care at Home health care teams deliver home health care, hospice, geriatric and palliative care, home infusion therapy, respiratory care and home medical equipment, Advanced Illness Management (AIM), PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly), bereavement and grief support, and community flu and wellness programs.

“We are always looking for health care professionals who can provide expert care and compassion for the seriously ill, recuperating, elderly and dying,” said Judy Davis, director of Human Resources for Sutter Care at Home. “We retain and recruit the very best health care professionals through competitive wages and benefits, flexible schedules, innovative care models, new technologies, and tuition reimbursement.”
