CLEARLAKE >> The City of Clearlake held its first ever State of the City meeting at the Highlands Senior Center on Wednesday, giving residents a chance to get directly connected to local officials.
The meeting was separated into two parts: an open house and presentations made by City Manager Greg Folsom, Mayor Russ Perdock, and Jo Bennett — the president of the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce.
At 5 p.m., the city opened the center to residents, allowing them to ask questions about code enforcement, the Austin Park Master Plan and other projects. Also present were the Clearlake Police Department, the public works department, the planning commission and the city clerk.
While the city faces a host of challenges, as well as promise, the speeches primarily focused on the city’s accomplishments in the past year — such as adding new staff and purchasing new equipment for the CPD — while looking ahead at future goals and plans, like the road-tax Measure V and the planned improvements on 18th Street and Phillips Avenue.
The meeting lasted until about 8 p.m. It was sponsored by the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce.
