Making nice
Galilee Lutheran Church
Lay leaders Doug Andre, Kris Andre
This Sunday is our last outdoor service of the summer. Next week, Sept. 11, we move back indoors and the time changes to 10 a.m. We still meet at Rocky Point Skilled Nursing Center at 2:45 p.m. for Gospel singing, and in our conference room Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. for Bible Study.
Part of this week’s lessons is Joshua’s challenge to the Israelites: “I have set before you life and death….Now choose life.” We all need to be mindful of the choices we make in the world, of course, but we also need to remember that in many ways, we make the choice between life and death, happiness and misery. Instead of saying to those we meet, “Have a nice day,” how would it change our perception if we said, “MAKE a nice day.”
Our lives do not have to be dictated by circumstances or negative people. We have the power (with God’s grace) of choosing our own path, our own attitude.
So, as Joshua says, “Choose life.” And make a nice day.
