WINDSOR >> Eric Flanagan, owner of Flanagan Vineyards, leads Russian River Partners in the acquisition of the historic Brandt Ranch. Located within the Kelsey Bench appellation in Lake County, the 120 acre vineyard has 108 acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

“Acquiring the Brandt Ranch is a great fit for Russian River Partners. Having a top Kelsey Bench Cabernet source is a thoughtful addition to the highly acclaimed Pinot Noir vineyards at Platt Ranch and Gap’s View, which are both located in the Sonoma Coast AVA,” says Eric Flanagan. “I believe that if we offer wineries fruit that is superior to much of what is grown in Napa, and do it at a fraction of the price, then we will have very robust demand for our grapes. Brandt Ranch is a site with great soils, aspect, and climate … my commitment is to help every vineyard we own to realize its potential.”

The Brandt Ranch is the third major vineyard acquired by Flanagan’s Russian River Partners in the last 18 months. Last year it purchased the 30-acre Gap’s View Vineyard, with 27-acres planted to Pinot Noir, and the iconic Platt Vineyard, an expansive 300+ acres, with 31-acres of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The rolling hills of the Brandt Ranch provide perfect drainage and the red volcanic soils are ideal for growing ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon.
