CLEARLAKE >> Culinary arts students under the direction of Chef Robert Cabreras are busy creating another menu for the fundraising dinner to benefit the Children’s Museum of Art and Science (CMAS). The dinner will be held at the Aromas Café at the Lake County Campus of Woodland Community College in Clearlake on Friday, Sept. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The menu will feature a carving station with tri tip donated by Ray’s Market and various tapas plates featuring local produce donated by Adamson Ranch Produce. This all you can eat buffet extravaganza will be topped off by a variety of delicious desserts and coffee and tea.
Music will be provided by From the Heart. Don and Saro Deacon play guitar and Celtic harp and sing a variety of folk songs and light rock tunes. The lyrical melodies of this husband and wife team are always crowd pleasing.
There will also be raffle baskets with an interesting spectrum of gifts and services to choose from. Tickets for this event are $30 and can be purchased at the door. However, reservations are highly recommended as seating is limited. Reservations can be made by calling Carolynn at 994-2878.
CMAS is an all volunteer non-profit organization which provides free art and science events and activities for the youth of Lake County. For ten years, CMAS has held an annual Art and Science Camp in May, for five years they have co-sponsored the Lake County Rocket Club, and for six years they have offered Lego robot workshops to classrooms, after school groups, and any other group who invites them. This fall they are working with the Lake County Office of Education and the Friends of Taylor Observatory to present a pilot program at Taylor Observatory called “Second Saturday Science.” CMAS is always very appreciative of the generous donations and support of community members and service groups which allow these programs to be offered. For those who are not able to attend the dinner but who wish to support these programs, donations can be sent to CMAS, PO Box 2634, Clearlake, CA 95422.
