
LAKEPORT >> The sixth annual Cardinal Sports Night sponsored by the CLHS Sports Foundation raised $25,278 on Saturday night for Clear Lake High School’s sports program.
The sports teams at the school earned varying shares of $13,348 through silent auctions, basket raffles and the coaches competition. Each team was immediately cut a check from the CLHS Sports Foundation for the amount it earned.
By sport, the totals raised from highest to the lowest were: boys’ basketball ($2,478), swimming ($1,498), football ($1,457), cheerleading ($1,350), baseball ($1,076), wrestling ($1,050), volleyball ($950), softball ($842), mountain biking ($700), girls’ basketball ($635), golf ($525), cross country ($330), boys’ soccer ($305), track ($90) and tennis ($60).
The remainder of the $25,278 goes into the foundation’s account and will be dispersed to meet future requests from the sports teams at the school.
The amount raised this year is a record and adds to more than $125,000 collected by the CLHS Sports Foundation since its inception.
According to CLHS Sports Foundation president Mike Damiata, several individual, businesses and groups contributed to the success of this year’s event, including Martin Scheel, The Lakeport Volunteer Fire Department, the Scotts Valley 4-H Swine Club and Ed Pepper, Strong Financial Network and Jennifer Strong, Linda’s Hallmark and Ray and Linda Banfill, Lake County Contractors and Aaron Wooden and Mark Mitchell, Shore Line Realty, Inc. and Janice Maschek, Schaefers Distributing and Cory Schaefers, Tina Scott, Barbara Schaefers, Allison Clause, Pyorre Insurance and Rick Pyorre, Dana Kearney, Phyllis Gabehart, Chris and Cassie Pivniska, Clearlake Grocery Outlet and the Beare Family, Sutter Health and Siri Nelson, Umpqua Bank, De Leon Engineering, the CLHS Boosters and Diana Dahl.
