LAKEPORT >> Robert Lyle McGrew, 30, was ordered to be present at the Lake County Superior Court in Lakeport Sept. 13, for an Arraignment Hearing. Deputy District Attorney Daniel Flesch was present in court, but neither McGrew or his defense attorney were present in court.
Judge Michael Lunas presided over the scheduled Arraignment with the Court finding no good cause for the defendant’s failure to appear. The Court orders a bench warrant set in the amount of $10,000.
McGrew is charged with Driving with Suspended/Revoked License (DUI) and Failing to Provide Evidence of Financial Responsibility.
The charges stem from a July incident when Lakeport Police say they discovered and extensive number of burglary tools in McGrew’s vehicle during a traffic stop. The Clearlake resident was reportedly driving without using headlights just before midnight when two Lakeport police officers spotted the vehicle on South Brush Street.
According to Lakeport Police Chief Brad Rasmussen, officers discovered McGrew was driving on a suspended license and had multiple priors for the same violation. Officers conducted an inventory search and allegedly found several items of contraband, including three glass methamphetamine smoking pipes and 0.3 grams of methamphetamine.
Officers also located shaved keys, lock picks and punches, flashlights, pliers, torches, a drill and a CO2 BB gun which resembled a revolver.
Rasmussen indicated that the discovered items are typically used in burglaries.
McGrew was placed into police custody and transported to the Lake County Correctional Facility.
