CLEARLAKE >> The Clearlake City Council approved a raise for City Manager Greg Folsom at its regular meeting on Thursday, bumping his base pay by 5 percent.
According to city documents, the action was considered due to his “satisfactory work performance” since he entered into his contract with the city in June 2015. Unanimously approved, 4-0, it will bring Folsom’s monthly salary from $9,167 to $9,625.35.
“The City Council has been complimentary of Mr. Folsom’s service as the city manager,” city attorney Ryan Jones said in a related staff report. “He has effectively managed a number of projects in the City during that time, [including] performing intense leadership roles during the Rocky, Valley, and Clayton Fires. “
The rest of his contract was unchanged, he added. This move will cost the city about $6,575 annually.
“The council feels like he’s moving Clearlake in a positive direction,” Councilwoman Joyce Overton said. “He’s implementing things better than managers we have paid more for.”
There will be a special meeting of the council on Monday, Sept. 26 to hear appeals to medical marijuana abatement orders.
