WILLITS >> Kortnie Reynolds and Lexi Burke scored early in the first half and that 2-0 lead held up as the Clear Lake Cardinals beat the Willts Wolverines by that same score on Thursday afternoon in North Central League I girls’ soccer action at Willits.
“We played strong the first 20 minutes and were flat the next 20 minutes,” Clear Lake coach Tommy Burke said of the first half. “We did everything we could in the second half, but we couldn’t get past their back line, which is very good.”
Clear Lake improved to 3-0-1 in league action.
Standouts for Clear Lake on defense were centerbacks Mavis Pyorre and Gina Faalelea and fullback Skye Bruch.
