SACRAMENTO >> Clear Lake High School’s varsity volleyball team split its four matches on Saturday at the CIVT Tournament in Sacramento.

The Cardinals advanced out of pool play with a 2-1 record, beating Argonaut 25-15, 27-25 and Galt 25-12, 25-14 before losing to Lowell of San Francisco 25-15, 25-19. In the first round of the gold bracket playoffs, Clear Lake fell 25-23, 25-21 to Calaveras.

“We missed 22 serves between our last two,” Clear Lake coach Marci Psalmonds said of the losses to Lowell and Calaveras.

Camille Donald was one of the few Cardinals who didn’t struggle from the service line as she missed only two serves the entire tournament. She also had 18 kills and six aces.

Other team leaders were Kiana Richardson with 34 kills and 16 digs and Kylie Udy with 11 aces and 58 assists.

Clear Lake (4-0) hosts Lower Lake (0-4) in a North Central League I match tonight. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m.
