TOMALES >> Alverto Solano and Josh Williams each had a goal and an assist on Monday as the Upper Lake Cougars dropped a 9-2 North Central League II decision to the Tomales Braves in boys’ soccer action at Tomales.
“We held them to one goal for the first 20 minutes,” Upper Lake coach Kevin O’Brien said of the first half. “Then we played soft for a few minutes and they scored three more.”
The Cougars (0-6) played well to start the second half and generated a pair of goals, the first by Solano, assisted by Williams, and the second by Williams, assisted by Solano.
“Some of the best soccer we’ve played as a team,” O’Brien said. “We were communicating with each other and passing the ball. We definitely have some things to build on going into our next game against Geyserville on Wednesday.”
After Wednesday’s road trip to Geyserville at 4:30 p.m., the Cougars are home Friday to play Clear Lake in a non-league game at 3 p.m.
