BOONVILLE >> Upper Lake’s first trip to Boonville as a member of the eight-man football North Central League III is one the Cougars would just as soon forget.
Anderson Valley beat Upper Lake 64-38 on Friday night, dropping Upper Lake to 2-3 in the league standings and 2-4 overall.
These two teams tied for the league championship a year ago although neither is in the running this season. Injuries played a big part in the loss as star running back Jacob Kalawaia left a 14-14 game with an ankle injury midway through the second quarter. Upper Lake also lost running backs Alex Sanchez (back) and Chris Fecht (ankle) to injuries.
“We just started to run out of bodies,” Upper Lake coach Mike Smith said.
