UPDATED:

It’s an age-old story about a Prince and a beautiful Princess, a wizard, and an evil Duke. Throw in a few surprise characters, like a forgetful entity whose magic doesn’t always work and a witch, and you have the makings of “The 13 Clocks” by author James Thurber, adapted for the stage by Frank Lowe. Now, the Lake County Theater Company (LCTC) brings this wonderful fairytale play to Lake County just in time for Halloween!

The cast of 16 includes LCTC performers Michael Kimball-Auth (the evil Duke of Coffin Castle), Will McCauley (Wizard), and Diana Schmidt (Hark), and introduces some new talented students from director Tim Fischer’s drama class to the stage.

The 13 Clocks is the adventure of a Prince, heroically played by Seth Smalley, who has grown weary of rich attire, banquets, and tournaments, and decides to disguise himself as a ragged minstrel. He travels about the land in his disguise, learning the life of the lowly, until he hears of the matchless beauty of the Princess Saralinda, played by Bianca Torres, who is held captive by the evil Duke. The Prince realizes that Saralinda is the maiden he has been seeking and resolves to win her hand with the help of the forgetful Golux, played by the energetic Grace Matthies, in spite of the staggering perils imposed by the evil Duke of Coffin Castle.

Want to know the rest of the fairytale or if they live happily ever after? You will just have to stay tuned.

The cast takes to the stage Oct. 28, 29, and Nov. 4, 5, at 7 p.m.; Oct. 30 and Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. The show will be held in the Cornelison Event Center at the Konocti Education Center, 15850 Dam Road Ext. A, Lower Lake.

Tickets are $12 and are available at brownpapertickets.com and at the door. For more information please call Tim Fischer at (707) 339-6447, Ext. 2938.
