Around the world when people look for a place to go to leave the place they are behind, TripAdvisor has become the authority. So when TripAdvisor looked at what people had to say, they noticed that Lake County’s own Featherbed Railroad B&B was consistently earning top marks such that the unique resort in Nice was in the top 10 percent of hotels worldwide according to guest reviews.
“It was quite an honor when TripAdvisor actually called us and told us that we had won an award for having the highest customer service in our area based solely on guest reviews,” said co-owner June Vejar. “According to TripAdvisor this Certificate of Excellence is a particular honor since we were told that just 10 percent of the hotels world wide have this designation.”
With over 100 people taking time out of their day to write a review, more 73 of those guests submitted a five-star review. There are also 17 four-star reviews.
“Even Disneyland has one-star reviews,” said Vejar “but we continue to strive to make every guest experience a five-star one.”
Vejar and her husband first considered ownership of a bed and breakfast because of a professed love of travel. Over the years they have compiled notes on what they appreciate and what they object to in a hotel. After purchasing the Featherbed location, they replaced a stove, added a new laundry facility and worked on guest experience.
“We weren’t just satisfied with clean looking and smelling sheets, we wanted them to truly be sanitized,” remarked Paul Vejar, co-owner.
