LAKEPORT >> As go Adrian Villalobos and Jordi Lopez, so go the Kelseyville Knights. And with both players going pretty well on Friday night against the Clear Lake Cardinals, the outcome was never in doubt.
Villalobos rushed for the first two touchdowns of the game and Lopez went on to score four times as the Knights hammered the Cardinals 51-0 in a North Central League I junior varsity football game at Don Owens Stadium in Lakeport.
“We played really well,” Kelseyville coach Jeremy Linnell said of the Knights’ fourth win in as many league games this season. “They definitely showed up ready to play this one.”
Both Lopez and Villalobos rushed for more than 100 yards. Lopez gained 126 yards on 17 carries with three rushing scores while Villalobos handled the ball just six times but still rushed for 105 yards and two TDs.
Dylan McAdon scored on his only carry of the night, that a 20-yarder, as Kelseyville improved to 5-1 on the season.
After returning three interceptions for touchdowns in their previous game, the Knights added two more pick-six scores against the Cardinals. Lopez had a 40-yard return and Robert Chavez took one back 60 yards.
Kelseyville had a comfortable 32-0 lead by halftime and scored again early in the third quarter to initiate a running clock (which starts with a 35-point lead or greater). It was 51-0 by the end of the quarter.
Anchoring the Knights on defense were middle linebacker Lukaz Molinero with eight solo tackles, two assists, three tackles for loss and two sacks, and defensive end Lopez with with eight tackles, two assists, three tackles for loss and one sack.
Kelseyville is home Friday to play Lower Lake while Clear Lake hosts Middletown. Both games kick off at 5:30 p.m.
