CALISTOGA >> Kelseyville’s Andre Williams won his race against Cloverdale rival Paden Collard, but it was the Eagles who beat out the Knights 40-38 on a sixth-man tiebreaker Wednesday during Coastal Mountain Conference cross country action at Bothe State Park in Calistoga.
St. Helena hosted the four-team meet that also included Fort Bragg.
Joining Williams as race winners on Wednesday were Fort Bragg’s Amelia Wirt in the girls’ division and Howie Huang of Pacific Union College Prepartory School in the junior varsity boys’ division.
Varsity boys
Williams and Collard were the only runners to crack the 18-minute barrier on the 3-mile Bothe State Park course. Williams crossed the finish line in 17 minutes, 7 seconds to beat out Collard at 17:50. Kelseyville’s Justin Perez was third overall in 18:44 while teammate Jeff Amendola clocked in at 19:11, good for seventh place.
St. Helena defeated Fort Bragg 27-30 in team scoring.
Girls
Wirt won the girls’ race going away, finishing in 21:11, more than a minute ahead of teammate Hailey Hutchinson (22:16). Kelseyville’s Laurel Weller was third overall in 23:01 while teammates Bailey Couey (23:23) and Yareli Lozano (23:33) placed fifth and seventh, respectively.
Cloverdale edged out Kelseyville 27-28 while Fort Bragg beat St. Helena 18-45 in team scoring.
JV boys
The best race of the day took place in the JV boys’ division where Huang (21:41) edged out Fort Bragg’s Raul Cano (21:48) and Clay Anderson (21:50) for first place.
Kelseyville’s top finisher was Dylan Escobedo, ninth in 26:21.
Kelseyville’s teams return to action Wednesday and will score against Lower Lake at Highland Springs, the home course of the Clear Lake Cardinals
