KELSEYVILLE >> They play well against the top teams in the North Central League I and something less than that against the others.

“Yeah, it is frustrating,” Kelseyville girls’ soccer coach Eric Hoefler said following the Knights’ 3-3 tie with the Willits Wolverines on Tuesday night in Kelseyville, a game the Knights twice led by two goals — 2-0 and 3-1.

“We stopped playing our positions, stopped trusting one another,” Hoefler said of Willits’ late rally to pull even.

Kat Brown and Christina Covarrubias scored in the first half as the Knights (3-3-3 league, 6-4-4 overall) went up 2-0. Ruby Mulgrew’s goal in the second half gave Kelseyville a 3-1 advantage.

“We didn’t close,” Hoefler said.

Brown and Christina Covarrubias had assists for the Knights, who are home Thursday to play St. Helena at 4 p.m.
