LAKEPORT >> Kelseyville’s quick-strike offense has a way of putting opponents back on their heels in a hurry. And so it was again on Tuesday when Sergio Arias scored in the second minute of the Knights’ 8-0 victory over the Willits Wolverines in North Central League I boys’ soccer action at Kelseyville.
The league leaders didn’t have an easy time with the Wolverines in the first half but they also didn’t allow any goals while building a 3-0 lead, their final two goals in the half coming from scoring machine Victor Cacho, part of his four-goal afternoon.
“We had 20 shots on goal to their 10 (for the game), so it wasn’t like that,” Kelseyville coach Eduardo Ledesma said when asked if the Knights dominated from the outset.
Willits increasingly got itself into more trouble in the second half as Kelseyville (7-0-2 league, 7-4-2 overall) tacked on five more goals.
“They had a player pick up a red card, so they had to play with 10,” Ledesma said of the Wolverines.
Later in the half another Willits player received a red card, leaving the team with only nine players on the field to Kelseyville’s full compliment of 11 (you can’t sub for a player who had been red-carded).
Besides Arias and Cacho, Sam Guzman Adrian Ruiz and Leonel Lopez also scored for the Knights. Both Cacho and Pedro Hernandez had two assists apiece.
