A Cal Fire crew member prepares to rappel from a helicopter Tuesday afternoon along Highway 175 west of Hopland in Mendocino County as part of a rescue and recovery operation following a single vehicle accident. According to initial reports a vehicle slid down a steep embankment, sparking a small fire. Cal Fire and teams from Hopland responded, quickly dousing the blaze. Traffic was stopped in both directions by California Highway Patrol officers while responders then worked to reach the vehicle.
