The lone senior on Clear Lake High School’s successful 2016 volleyball squad, Courtney Hiatt (24), is stepping her game up and then some for the Cardinals, who at 9-1 on the season are battling Kelseyville (10-0) for the North Central League I title this season. With starter Valerie Hutton out of the lineup because of an injury, Hiatt is not only filling that void but filling it admirably as was the case on Thursday night against visiting Cloverdale. Although the Cardinals won in the minimum three sets, 25-21, 25-16, 27-25, they had a real battle on their hands and had to rally from behind to win all three sets. Hiatt contributed seven kills and three blocks in the win. “She saved our butts,” Clear Lake coach Marci Psalmonds said.
