UPPER LAKE >> The Golden State Wrestling Club is open for business and is looking for boys and girls in kindergarten through the 12th grade to join.

Practices are currently being held Monday through Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Upper Lake High School cafeteria. There is a $50 club fee to join and you also must purchase a membership in USA Wrestling that covers insurance costs.

Junior tennis league meets on Saturday

KELSEYVILLE >> The Konocti Junior Tennis League meets on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to noon year-round, weather permitting, at the Gard Street tennis courts just off of Third and Main streets in Kelseyville.

Rackets are provided and there is no charge to attend. Players need to bring their own water.

These sessions are intended for youngsters 8-18 who are interested in playing singles and doubles or just practicing. Free instruction is provided.

Erickson, Hoss tie for captain’s trophy award

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE >> Nancy Erickson and Kit Hoss tied for captain’s trophy honors during 40-9ers play last month at Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course.

Erickson won the first flight and Hoss won the second flight, both with low net rounds of 36. Putter of the month honors went to Erickson and Diana Schneider.

Low net flight results were as follows:

First flight — Erickson, 36; Liz Cummesky and Adele Curtin, 39 (tie).

Second flight — Hoss, 36; Marla Peterson, 41; Hank Kistner and Floydean Greenlow, 42 (tie).

Third flight — Elaine Fauser, 42; Barbara Carver, 45; Diana Schneider, 48.

Foursome scramble is Oct. 27 at Buckingham

BUCKINGHAM >> The Public Safety Appreciation Day golf tournament is set for Oct. 27 at Buckingham Golf and Country Club.

The four-person scramble begins with a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $40 per player and the registration deadline is Oct. 24. Entry fee includes golf, cart, prizes, closest-to-the-pin and long drive contests, and lunch.

Tournament entry forms are available at all Lake County golf courses.
