LAKEPORT >> John David Heglin entered a plea of no contest to a charge that he failed to register as a sex offender when accepting work in Lake County.
The 57-year-old Sonoma County resident was arrested by deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in July after learning Heglin was working as a cashier at a Kelseyville grocery. Such employment, some 50 miles from his home, violated parole conditions.
Heglin was under a community supervision program in Sonoma County, which required approval from the county probation department to work outside the area. Heglin had worked in Kelseyville one month before his arrest.
This matter was referred to the probation department for the preparation of a sentencing report and recommendation.
Judge Andrew Blum presided over the preliminary examination and has set this matter for sentencing on Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Department Three. The defendant is ordered to be present.
