MIDDLETOWN >> Caitlin Lemoine had a hat trick and Aly Ferguson figured in almost all of Middletown’s scoring during a 6-0 victory over the Fort Bragg Timberwolves on Tuesday in North Central League I girls’ soccer action at Middletown.

Middletown (8-0-3) can now turn its attention toward a critical Thursday home game with the St. Helena Saints (8-1-2), who trail the Mustangs by just a half-game with three games remaining for each team, including Thursday’s showdown.

“We’re very excited about that,” Middletown coach Lamont Kucer said of the St. Helena game.

The two teams battled to a 0-0 draw when they last met Sept. 27 in St. Helena.

Middletown scored three goals in each half against Fort Bragg and Kucer said he was able to play all of his reserves before it was over. Among his starters, the veteran Lemoine scored twice in the first half and once in the second half. Ferguson added two more goals and assisted on three others. Another veteran, Madison Ketchum, had one goal and one assist.

“Aly did a great job,” Kucer said. “She had some through balls to Caitlin and Madison that were right on the money.”

Middletown’s defense held Fort Bragg to only a handful of shots.
