Yes, I too was shocked as I walked by and saw this book — “Thank God I Had Cancer!” — in a health food store back in the 1970s.

There was a woman on the cover dressed in a rather heavenly white gown and the whole cover was very striking. I was busily on my way out of the store so I hadn’t the time to pick it up.

However, it became very clear to me over the years, given all my hundreds of hours of research on alternative approaches to healing cancer, what exactly the book conveyed.

Now I haven’t the time or space here to give but a very short introduction to methods that may heal the Big C.

Yes, you probably know that the mere mention of cancer can raise blood pressure, as it’s the most dreaded disease known to humanity.

Yes, behind heart disease, it’s our greatest killer of Americans.

The “War on Cancer” was declared by President Nixon in 1972 but unfortunately little progress has been made with regard to outcomes after the five year post treatment period. Cancer is often detected earlier now, which extends the detection/mortality window, but again, outcomes after the five year window have not significantly changed using Standard of Care procedures, namely surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.

By the way, I did a Google search on that book and couldn’t find it. However there were others of exactly the same title by different authors.

Mind you, the cancer industry is a multi- billion dollar industry. Many believe its overseers and regulators , the AMA and FDA, are extremely protective of its cash cow. Many also believe if there are alternative and therefor competing protocols that surface, those researchers and formulators will be silenced, if at all possible. Mind you, there are hundreds of thousands of jobs supported by the cancer industry, like the petrochemical industry.

No matter how you look at it, we are economically dependent on the cancer industry.

So getting back to our Thank God I Had Cancer! book … well, it will wait until next week’s column.
