LOWER LAKE >> Rehearsals for “The 13 Clocks” by James Thurber are in high gear as opening night quickly approaches. In a fantastical tale of mirth, magic, monsters, and a thoroughly indescribable hat, cast members are polishing up their scenes and finalizing their costumes as the crew is busy finishing the backdrops and placing props.

But what of the story? The cast of 16 includes the evil Duke of Coffin Castle, a handsome Prince travelling the land disguised as a minstrel, a beautiful Princess under an unusual spell, a somewhat forgetful and magical Golux always trying to help, a Wizard whose spells don’t always work the way he wants them to, a Peasant Woman whose tears are very special, and a couple of mysterious Spies. Add some interesting town folk, castle guards, and a few surprise characters along the way, and you have the recipe for a delightfully entertaining fairytale show.

This show is a combined effort of Lake County Theater Company (LCTC) and Konocti Education Center drama students, and is directed by veteran performer and teacher, Tim Fischer.

“I couldn’t be more proud of my students and the professionalism of the LCTC performers in this show”, said Fischer, “The caliber of the acting is outstanding. The actors are entertaining, funny, and emotional when needed. This is going to be a very fun show with some twists and turns and a few unexpected surprises”.

And yes, just like any great fairytale classic, the Price saves the Princess and they live happily ever after, or do they? And what becomes of the evil Duke? What is a “Todal”? Who gets eaten by the geese? Well, for the answers of these questions and more you will just have to attend to find out!

Show dates are Oct. 28, 29, and Nov. 4, 5, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 30 and Nov. 6th, at 2 p.m. The show will be held in the Cornelison Event Center at the Konocti Education Center, 15850 Dam Road Ext. A, Lower Lake.

Tickets are $12 & $8 for children 12 and under, and are available at The Soap Shack in Lakeport, Game Hub in Lower Lake, and Lower Lake Coffee Co., and brownpapertickets.com and at the door (search for “13 Clocks”).
