COBB >> Tournament host Black Rock Golf Club won the annual Womens Redwood Empire Niners nine-hole championship tournament on Oct. 5 at Black Rock Golf Course on Cobb Mountain.

Also participating were golfers representing Adams Springs, Hidden Valley Lake, Buckingham, Oakmont and St. Helena golf clubs.

Playing for the winning Black Rock club were Gayle Albo, Charlene Domer, Shirley Krause and Carol Ripplinger. They secured the perpetual trophy that will be on display at Black Rock until next year’s tournament.

Dominguez, Nelson top Buckingham field

BUCKINGHAM >> Members could throw out their worst hole during Buckingham Women’s Golf Club play on the back nine during recent play at Buckingham Golf and Country Club.

Maxine Dominguez fired a 51 to take low gross honors in the first flight. Gaylene McComb was low net and she also won low putts with 16.

In the second flight, Judy Nelson posted the low gross round while Sydney Moore and Cheryle Yost tied for low net honors. Nelson also had the fewest putts with 18.

There were no birdies or chip-ins but Patty Ives parred No. 10 and Leanne White parred No. 14.

Hidden Valley Guys hold five-point lead

BUCKINGHAM >> Six teams are separated by five points through six weeks of play in the Fall Twilight League at Buckingham Golf and Country Club.

The Hidden Valley Guys sit atop the standings with 105 points, just five points ahead of five other teams — Brush & Hammer, Legal Eagles, KXBX Radio Flyers, Kelseyville Lumberjacks and the Buckiingham Boys — all with 100.

Wyatt’s Weedwhackers are seventh with 90 points followed by the Golf Gods in last place with 85 points.

Closest-to-the-hole winners during the most recent round of play were Jesse Santana on No. 11, Bob Iversen on No. 14 and Chip Bowlin on No. 15.

Low rounds of the week during the four-man team scramble belonged to Billy Witt, Ashley Mayhew, Ryan Reese and Gene Manning of Hidden Valley Guys with a low gross 27, and Iversen, Bob Jolin, Scot Lamanuzzi and Jason Brey of the Buckingham Boys with a low net 26.
