The United Veterans Council of Lake County and the Vet Connect Committee would like to offer our sincerest gratitude to the many providers at this years’ Veteran Stand Down. The Stand Down was a huge success as we were able to offer services to over 200 veterans.

Veterans were able to meet with 49 different service providers such as Department of Social Services for both Lake and Mendocino County, County Veteran Service Offices for both Lake and Mendocino County, various providers from the Department of Veteran Affairs, and DMV.

Support agencies such as Lake County Family Resource Center provided valuable information of where veterans can get on the spot help with immediate needs, One Justice provided legal assistance, other service providers were there with information booths.

Veterans were able to receive supplies such as jackets, clothing, boots, backpacks and MRE’s(Meals Ready to Eat). Sutter Lakeside Hospital provided lunch at no charge both days of the event. The meals were served by many community volunteers.

The Lake County Vet Connect is already making plans for next years’ Stand Down scheduled for September 20-21, 2017.
