LAKEPORT >> Dr. Jonah Raskin’s presentation “Jack London: Genius Lives,” drew a large, enthusiastic crowd when he spoke at the Lake Center of Mendocino College on Sunday.

Raskin’s speech was the keynote event in the NEA Big Read in Lake County, a collaboration between the Lake County Friends of Mendocino College, Friends of Mendocino College Library, the Lake County Library and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The NEA Big Read is a month-long program that encourages Lake County residents to read and discuss “The Call of the Wild.” The last event will be the wrap-up party on Saturday at the Soper-Reese Theatre in Lakeport at 2 p.m.
