LAKEPORT >> The Lake County Library will hold a free showing of the 1935 movie “The Call of the Wild” starring Clark Gable, Loretta Young and Jack Oakie and directed by William Wellman, loosely based on Jack London’s book.
This event wraps up Lake County’s NEA Big Read month-long series of events related to The Call of the Wild. The party takes place on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Soper Reese Theatre in Lakeport. Refreshments will be served. This event is free to the public and no library card is needed to attend.
Free copies of the book of The Call of the Wild will be handed out at the movie showing. The library has given away hundreds of copies of the book and has re-ordered the title. Copies are now available at all Lake County Library branches while supplies last.
