KELSEYVILLE >> A semi-trailer rolled over and knocked out power lines at Kit’s Corner in Kelseyville Thursday morning.
The Wal-Mart truck was northbound on State Highway 29 just west of the Soda Bay Road intersection when the driver lost control of the vehicle at around 10:40 a.m. As the truck toppled, the trailer hit a power pole and knocked out power for more than 1,500 people in the surrounding area.
According PG&E spokesperson Denny Boyles, most residents had their power restored within an hour. Some, however, had to wait until evening.
The unidentified driver suffered only minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The crash site had downed power lines and blocked both sides of the highway, forcing California Highway Patrol officers to redirect traffic around the area.
The intersection was closed for most of the afternoon.
Rollover accidents are not uncommon on Lake County roads, especially during stretches of rain. CHP officer Kory Reynolds reminds all drivers to slow down when the roads are wet.
