Usually the cool-down run follows the competitive run in cross country, but it was one in the same on Wednesday afternoon for members of the Middletown, Lower Lake, Fort Bragg and Willits teams at the Diamond D Ranch course in Middletown where a 30-foot-wide stream, swollen by recent rainfall, provided some excitement. Runners had to ford the stream, which was approximately 1 1/2-2 feet deep, to continue on their way, including Middletown’s Jack Shrive (above).
