CLOVERDALE >> The Lower Lake Trojans are headed to the postseason with a 35-0 victory over the Cloverdale Eagles neatly tucked away in their back pockets following the North Central League I finale for both of these varsity football teams on Friday night in Cloverdale.

Lower Lake (5-3 league, 6-4 overall) will find out on Sunday where it is seeded in the North Coast Section Division III field.

The Trojans scored in an assortment of ways while building a 16-0 halftime lead that included an 18-yard fourth-down pass from quarterback Hokulani Wickard to Marlon Jones with only three seconds left in the first half. They scored earlier in the second quarter on a safety after taking a 6-0 lead on Eric Egger’s 1-yard run in the first quarter.

“We ultimately played four quarters of disciplined football which is what we wanted and needed going into the playoffs,” Lower Lake coach Justin Gaddy said. “I’m really proud of this kids. They absolutely gave me four quarters tonight.”

Marlon Jones returned the second-half kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown after taking a lateral from Ethan Watson, who first touched the ball. The Trojans scored twice more in the quarter on Wickard on Nick Sani runs to go up 35-0.

Sani finished with 96 rushing yards, putting him over 1,000 for the season.

“We scored in every way possible … running the ball, throwing it, on special teams and on defense,” Gaddy said.
