SAN FRANCISCO >> San Francisco Waldorf beat Clear Lake 25-19, 25-22, 25-18 in the quarterfinal round of the North Coast Section Division V volleyball playoffs on Saturday night in San Francisco.
Clear Lake (22-12), the North Central League I runner-up, simply ran into a stronger team, according to coach Marci Psalmonds.
“We played really well, but they were able to block us. They were better blockers than we were,” she said. “They were just the better team.”
Kiana Richardson finished with eight kills and 10 digs, Valerie Hutton added seven kills and three blocks, and Camille Donald had six kills and eight digs to lead Clear Lake. Setter Kylie Udy finished with 22 assists.
“Val had a really good night,” Psalmonds said of Hutton.
Clear Lake loses only one player to graduation, senior Courtney Hiatt. The Cardinals’ only two league losses this season were to undefeated champion Kelseyville and the Knights graduate five players, most of them starters.
“We’ll be back with our quick game next year,” Psalmonds said.
