The Lower Lake High School varsity girls basketball team, loaded with offensive firepower this season, was busy preparing for the start of the upcoming 2016-17 season during a Thursday afternoon practice at the school’s new gym. First-year coach Dave Milano said he is excited about the season ahead as the Trojans blend returning varsity talent with players moving up from a junior varsity squad that won the league championship last season with a 13-1 record. Lower Lake fans can get their first glimpse of the Lady Trojans tonight at 5:30 p.m. during the annual alumni game that features such past Trojan stars as Rachelle Hukel, Cheryl Horner-Christensen, Nicole Sherrell-Wylie, Katie Wilder-Thomas, Jonesha Beasley, Veronica Wilder, April White and Zobee Miller. The varsity boys vs. alumni game follows. Pictured above during Thursday’s practice are (group shot, sitting on bench from left) Vanessa Davis, Claire Alderson, Jolean Scarborough, Samantha Caires and Catie Pesonen, with Aleia Milano sitting on the floor.
