The final step, and a new beginning

Galilee Lutheran Church

Lay leader Craig Waters

This Sunday is the last week of the liturgical (church) year. Having come to earth to bring God’s grace and mercy to humankind, spending three years teaching and healing life’s ills, betrayed, tortured and crucified, Jesus completed his earthly ministry by being raised from the dead, teaching for another 40 days, and then returning to his Father in heaven.

This Sunday we celebrate his final step … taking his place as Christ the King of the universe and all creation. Then we start all over again with Advent and Christmas, beginning November 27. The cycle of life is completed, and having been completed, starts anew.

We are also celebrating this week the baptism of our newest member, performed by Pastor Chris DelCol of First Lutheran Church in Lucerne. Following will be a potluck reception in our Community Center. Endings and beginnings intertwine, as they always do. Come early to get a good seat (the ones in the back fill up fast).

On Thanksgiving Day at 2 p.m., Galilee will serve a free Thanksgiving dinner, along with a short service of thanks. All are welcome, but please call 279-4832 and let us know, so we have a good head count for buying food. Avoid having to cook and clean up!

Galilee Lutheran invites you to join us. We are located at 8860 Soda Bay Road, between the Riviera Shopping Center and Konocti Harbor Inn. Sunday service is at 10 a.m.

Do you pray?

Clear Lake Baptist Church

Pastor Ray Smith

Do you pray? Most people say they do. What do you pray for? Safety? Winning the lotto? For things you want? Yourself? Who do you pray to? Why pray? Join us this Sunday at 10:45 a.m. to learn more.

Come at 9:15 a.m. for stimulating Bible studies for all ages. This week we will not have our usual Sunday evening service or our midweek services because of Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving.

Questions? Call the church at (707) 263-3256. Listen to sermons online (but there is no substitute for live interaction and engagement.) Visit our website for other services and times; www.clearlakebaptistchurch.org.
