LAKE COUNTY >> The quarterback of the Kelseyville High School varsity volleyball team, senior Riley Goff, is now a two-time most valuable player in the North Central League I.
Riley, a four-year veteran at setter for the Knights, is one of five Kelseyville players and one of 12 Lake County players honored on the 2016 edition of the All-League team as recently selected by the league’s eight coaches.
Goff, who is headed to Sonoma State University on a scholarship next season, was the unanimous pick for MVP honors after leading the Knights to a second straight undefeated league championship. She is joined on the All-League first team by two of her teammates, senior outside hitter Carli Mendonca and sophomore libero Payton Conrad.
Joining Goff, Mendonca and Conrad on the first team is Clear Lake outside hitter Kiana Richardson, a junior. Other members of the first team are Fort Bragg senior Janee Estes, St. Helena junior outside hitter Lindsay Martin, and Cloverdale freshman outside hitter Tehya Bird, one of only two freshmen to land a spot on this year’s All-League squad.
Among the six players honored on the All-League second team, four of them are from Lake County. They are Kelseyville senior libero Lauren Rudnick, a four-year varsity veteran; Middletown senior Brittney Holt; Clear Lake junior middle blocker Valerie Hutton; and Clear Lake junior outside hitter Camille Donald. Rounding out the second team are St. Helena senior Adie Gomes and Fort Bragg senior middle blocker Dayanna Cervantes.
Each team was allowed to designate a player for honorable mention status. From Lake County, honorable mentions were freshman Allison Bryant of Kelseyville, sophomore Madi Ferguson of Clear Lake, senior Olivia Glosser of Middletown, and senior Bailey DeLong of Lower Lake. Others honored were senior Gianna DeVincenzi of St. Helena, sophomore Anahi Yanez of Fort Bragg, junior Hannah Bereschi of Cloverdale, and senior Angel DeLosSantos of Willits.
