UPDATED:

For more than 30 years people in Lake County have been making the holidays a little warmer for their neighbors in need through the Christmas Basket program.

A total of 1,200 baskets full of food, necessities and holiday cheer will be distributed just before Christmas — 600 to people in the Northshore, 600 to those in the Southshore.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the Christmas Basket program may bring or mail contributions to any branch of Umpqua or Westamerica bank. Checks should be written to Lake County Christmas Fund.

Individuals and business contributing to the fund will be recognized in this space.

The Christmas Basket program is a collaborative effort of Lake County Publishing, the Lakeport Rotary Club, Bruno’s Shop Smart, Foods Etc., Scully Packing, Umpqua Banks, Westamerica Banks, Lake Family Resource Center and NCO Community Action Agency. Volunteers from these fill and distribute the baskets each year.

Sign up dates and locations will be announced soon in this space.
