HERCULES >> The Lower Lake Trojans carried an eight-point lead into the fourth quarter before falling 52-47 to Hercules on Monday night in non-league varsity girls basketball action at Hercules.
Lower Lake (0-1) used a 12-4 third quarter to open up a 37-29 lead in its season opener. Hercules (1-1) caught and passed the Trojans with a 23-10 final period.
“There was a 20-6 foul differential (in favor of Hercules) in the second half,” Lower Lake coach Dave Milano said. “I wasn’t a happy coach.”
Aleia Milano led the Trojans with 21 points, including three 3-pointers. After Milano, the scoring fell off to seven points for Sam Caires and six for Shayna Pike.
“We didn’t shoot the ball well from the outside,” Milano said. “I think we would have run away with it had we shot the ball better. Forty-seven points is probably a low total for this team.”
Milano credited Jolean Scarborough with a good night on the boards. She also had five points.
Hercules won the junior varsity game 24-22. Shelby Sapeta’s five points paced the Trojans.
Both Lower Lake teams return to action Wednesday against El Molino in Forestville. JV tip-off is 5:30 p.m.
