Oh’shinnah Bluewolf and Nastasia Cullen eye the basket during Upper Lake High School’s annual free throw-a-thon fundraiser on Monday afternoon at the gym. Members of the junior varsity and varsity basketball teams solicit pledges from individuals and businesses — either a flat rate or an amount for each free throw they make. Each player takes 100 free throws while a teammate logs the number they make. Proceeds are used to pay for tournament entry fees, warmup sweats or other team needs. All four of Upper Lake’s teams — JV and varsity girls and boys — are home today to play Kelseyville in the season opener for both schools. Action begins with the JV girls game at 3:30 p.m.
