FORESTVILLE >> A 20-5 first quarter put the Lower Lake Trojans in control early and they cruised to a 63-25 non-league win over the El Molino Lions in non-league varsity girls basketball action on Wednesday night at Forestville.
“We came out on fire,” Lower Lake coach Dave Milano said. “We move the ball around really well and had a lot of layups.”
Ten different Trojans scored in the game as Milano was able to give all of his players plenty of court time. Junior guard Aleia Milano led the way with 26 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Vanessa Hughes added 15 points and Samantha Caires had six.
Hughes, a first-year varsity player, turned in a solid all-around performance, according to Milano.
“She had quite a few rebounds and assists to go along with the 15 points,” Milano said. “She really stepped it up.”
Lower Lake (1-1) is off until next Wednesday when it visits St. Patrick/St. Vincent of Vallejo.
The Trojans also beat El Molino in the junior varsity game.
