LAKEPORT >> Brady McGuire poured in 27 points and Seth Mix added another 14 as the Clear Lake High School junior varsity boys squad had its way with the Upper Lake Cougars, 80-30, in the opening round of the Clear Lake Tournament on Friday in Lakeport.
Hank Nevarez led Upper Lake with 11 points and Dylan Armstrong added nine.
Clear Lake (1-0) plays St. Helena tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the winner’s semifinal round while Upper Lake takes on Willits at 3 p.m. in the consolation semifinals.
The tournament runs through Saturday at the Clear Lake High School gym. All of the county’s JV boys teams are participating except Middletown.

The Kelseyville Knights fell to the Cloverdale Eagles in first-round action despite a balanced scoring attack that featured 13 points from Rafael Perez, 12 from Joey Mendonca, 10 from Robert Chavez and seven from Cooper Goff.
Kelseyville is 0-2 on the season.
