COLUSA >> It took the Cardinals a half to sort out their offense, but Clear Lake’s varsity girls came storming back in the second half to beat Pierce 41-31 in the opening round of the Colusa Tournament.

With an assist from Camille Donald, Kortnie Reynolds buried a 3-pointer as time expired in the third quarter to put Clear Lake ahead to stay at 25-24. The Cardinals outscored the Bears 14-0 in the third period.

“We ran the offense really well in the second half and the defense stepped up,” Clear Lake coach Kory Reynolds said.

Donald led the Cardinals with 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and Reynolds finished with 11 points.

Clear Lake plays either Sutter or Durham today at 6 p.m.
