Living in the country these days has many rewards. No traffic and no smog, for starters.
But the biggest reward is the Kelseyville Parade of Lights.
Every Christmas the Kelseyville Business Association turns on the shopping season by showing off what it does best: some down home country hospitality and the best light show in the county.
This year’s event is tonight, Dec. 2, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
The spirit of spontaneity may be part of what makes the combined parade and merchant open house so charming. Bring the family, stroll down Main Street and delight in the towns decorations where holiday music and the soft scents of the season mingle in the crisp winter air. The parade will start at 6:30 with Santa followed by the town tree lighting at the firehouse. Santa will go across the street to Westamerica Bank for the little ones to share their Christmas wishes and have a photo taken by Dawn Smith with the proceeds going to Lake county Foster Children. Also in the bank, Linda Kelly will have a gourd display for all to enjoy. The Bridge Band will be entertaining our holiday visitors while you’re waiting for Santa.
This year St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Lakeport will be joining it’s mission church St. Peters on Main Street next to Westamerica Bank. They will have home made tamales and churros and St. Peters will have hot dogs and beans, warm beverages and treats. Stop in and say hello and enjoy the goodies. Kelseyville Presbyterian Church behind Westamerica Bank will be serving the famous Chowder and Chili dinner, Kelseyville Methodist Church will be serving holiday treats and have their choir singing Christmas music.
The Sawshop Gallery Bistro will again have the Miniature Quilt Display and while you’re there say hi to Marie and have some holiday cheer. John’s Market will have their wonderful BBQ that everyone enjoys.
Be sure and stop in all the Main Street businesses, they have graciously opened their doors to welcome all and discover the magic of Kelseyville, from Kelseyville Pharmacy by the bridge all the way to Lyndalls Grill.
If you decide to participate in the parade, come and join us, line up begins at 5 p.m., just make sure you are brightly lit and ready to have a lot of fun.
