To date the Lake County Chamber of Commerce has received five nominations for the February 11, 2017 Stars of Lake County Community Awards Program. Dawn Alvarado, Glenhaven — Volunteer of the Year; Sarah Pope, Lakeport — Female Student of the Year; Middletown Senior Citizens (Center), Organization of the Year; Lakeport Physical Therapy, Small Business of the Year and Janeane Bogner, Clearlake Oaks — Woman of the Year.
Deadline for Nominations for the 19th Annual Stars is January 6, 2017.
There are 21 different categories in which entities can be nominated that cover a broad spectrum of community service. For a comprehensive category list and nomination form visit www.lakecochamber.com; also at the site is a list of all the (over 1,700) nominees since the inception of the program in 1998. To date 379 Stars have been awarded to recipients around the County. Nomination forms are available through the Lake County Chamber office at 875 Lakeport Blvd., Lakeport.
Stars is held at the Soper Reese Theater in Lakeport beginning with a reception at 5 p.m. where complimentary appetizers are served and a no host bar is available. All seats are reserved with each Nominee receiving one free ticket. Nominees are seated with one guest in the front section of the theater. Tickets this year are $20 per person and may be purchased beginning December 19 through the Lake County Chamber.
Once nominations are closed, the Stars Selection Committee will receive a book of all nominations and they have about one week to review the information before they meet to discuss and cast their votes. The Selection Committee is comprised of residents from communities around the County. They will discuss all nominees category by category, casting secret ballots for the recipient in each.
